More about Gjetost ...

Gjetost was first made in the Gudbrandsdalen valley in Norway more than 130 years ago. Anne Hov, a farmer’s wife, was the first person to think of pouring cream into the kettle of whey. Her brown cheese got a higher price than her ordinary cheese and butter, and is reputed to have saved the valley from financial ruin in the 1880s.Gjetost is best served in wafer thin slices and eaten on toast or Norwegian flatbread (very thin crackers). It is also makes an unusual addition, and talking point when added to a cheese board.  There are two types of Gjetost available in the UK: Gjetost (red packs) made from goat and cows’ milk and whey; and Ekte (pronounced ‘Ekta’) Gjetost which is made only from goats’ milk and whey. Here at The Cheese and Wine Shop, we stock the Ski Queen type, which is a little bit sweeter than the Ekte, with a slightly smoother texture.

Cheese - Gjetost

This was a gift to a friend of Norwegian descent. From whatr she tells us, it was perfect. Good to know that the Cheese & Wine Co can porovide such unusual foreign cheeses. Well done!

Score would have been a 5 if my order had arrived on time, but although I paid for an next day delivery, it was 2 days before it arrived

Not quite what i ordered

I ordered 2 x 250g blocks of cheese. Speed of delivery was excellent and product was good quality. However, I received 1 500g block. While this is the same quantity, I was unable to give the 2 blocks to 2 different people as I had planned!

Hedonism with cheese

Pure luxury from Norway. After seeing the cheese on the hairy bikers I really wanted to try it. Was a real treat and first class service really impressed and look forward to a trip to your shop in the near future.

cheese delivery

cheese was excellent and exactly what i wanted however the astronomical cost of delivery (more than twice the price of the cheese!) will prevent me from purchasing again.

Gjestost 250 g cheese

Have had the best of attention from this supplier with lots of communication. They have been very helpful. I did point out that I felt the postage and packing was quite expensive for such a small amount of cheese. Came very quickly and was extremely well packed. Thank you!

Regardless, we want to make sure we put them right as quickly as possible. So to return goods, we need to give you a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA); please dont send anything back without contacting us, and obtaining an RMA.

To Return Goods, and get a RMA

If you want to return goods to us ...

1. please log in to your account
2. under Orders, select the Previous Orders tab.
3. from there, select the relevant order number
4. click on the RMA link, which is towards the right hand side
5. Please provide as much information as possible as to why the product/s are unstaisfactory
6. await our reply (if we havent replied within 48 hours, please call to ensure we have received your request)

Refunds ... The Cheese and Wine Shop of Wellington offers a full refund on all goods that you may be dissatisfied with (this includes Sale items). Customers who send back unwanted goods that are not damaged will receive the value of the item purchased less the delivery costs.
 
Unsuitable or defective items may be returned for refund or exchange providing they are received within 7 working days of the original delivery date in brand new, unused condition, in the original undamaged packaging (with labels intact, including hygiene strips)

Please ensure that your return is accompanied by a note stating your name, address, email address, contact telephone number, order number, RMA and the reason for the return and what refund/exchange you require. (As agreed in the RMA)
 
We will consider the overall condition of the product being returned when making a refund. As soon as we receive your goods we will process your request for a replacement item or refund. We will notify you via email as soon as your request has been processed.
 
You will need to pay the cost of returning goods to us, unless the goods are defective in which case you will receive a full refund including your postage and packaging costs. Proof of return and postage will be required should an item be lost in transit. Neither refunds nor replacements can be made until such proof is provided. We strongly suggest you get a Certificate of Posting from the Post Office when you send an item back.

All refunds are applied to the credit/debit card used to make the original purchase unless otherwise notified. Refunds will be furnished within 30 days of the agreement to refund.
 
If you have requested a refund, or replacements of a lower value than the returned goods, a refund will be credited back to the card used to pay for the original order. We will let you know as soon as the refund has been processed.

If you have requested replacements of a higher value, you will need to contact us to make the additional payment.
