Chateau Musar Gaston Hocher 75cl 14%

The legendary wine of Lebanon. The blend for this, Musar’s top label is based on three grapes; Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan and Cinsault. Serge Hochar, who has been involved with the property since 1959, states that the Cabernet Sauvignon provides "the bones and the skeleton" to the wine, the Carignan "flesh and muscle", and the Cinsault "the silky smooth finesse".

The wines are matured in new French oak and are extremely long-lived, with the best examples lasting 20-30 years. This near legendary Lebanese estate was founded by Gaston Hochar in 1930 in a region with a 6,000 year old wine- producing history started by the Phoenicians.

Dark and brooding, rich and gamey, in short a blockbuster of a Wine!.

Still in its infancy, but already showing plenty of deep spiced and brambley fruit, overlaid with rich, oak. A richly complicated offering.

Good meaty fruit, leathery extract. Fresh but above all robust, but quite elegant fruit, straightforward and clean. Drink from 2010!
