Delivery Information from The Cheese and Wine Shop
The Cheese and Wine Shop delivery Service will.....deliver your parcel/s safely and securely using our courier UKmail. In the event there is no one in, the courier is asked to leave the parcel in a secure location, or with a neighbor. The Courier is asked to leave a card in the letterbox. This card will provide depot contact details for you, or the recipient to collect the goods.
Our Courier Service allows for 1 delivery attempt, so is vital that there is someone in, or details are provided for them to leave it with a neighbor. If there is no one in, the driver should place a card in the letterbox with instructions on where the parcel can be collected from. If you or the recipient collects the goods, there is no additional charge.
Once you have selected your preferred delivery day, we will do our utmost to ensure it is delivered then, but please note this is NOT a guaranteed service.
At Christmas, please allow 1-2 days either side of your preferred date, although most deliveries will arrive as scheduled. You will receive an email when the parcel is dispatched, and this will advise your delivery day.
Please be proactive and if the parcel hasn't arrived contact UKmail through the tracking information supplied from Ukmail, or email us with your order number and we will contact UKmail. This process can take upwards of 1 day during Christmas.
In order to ensure that your order arrives on time the following points will assist us achieving the most efficient service possible. When providing delivery details, please ensure a full delivery address and contact detail is provided.

If there is no one in, the driver will leave the parcel with a neighbor if possible. They will place a card in the letterbox advising them at what address the parcel has been left. If this isn't possible, they will place a card in their letterbox advising them how to collect the parcel.
Chilled Goods:Any parcels that contain Chilled goods must be delivered with our "Priority Service", and a signature is required on delivery, so please ensure that someone is in to receive and sign for your parcel. It is very important to ensure somebody will be at the delivery address to accept the parcel - we are happy to deliver to places of work if more convenient. If this is difficult, another option is to instruct us to leave your parcel with a neighbor, but do please ensure they know about it!
Alternatively, you can tell us to leave the parcel/s in a secure, dry, safe place at the delivery address. (If selecting this option, the Parcel/s are left at your risk, as understandably, UKMail and The Cheese and Wine Shop can`t be responsible for items left unattended.)
It is worth noting that when Customers have asked that their Parcels are left "in the Front Porch", or behind the BBQ, we have never had a problem.
So in summary, we need .... that for any Chilled items ordered, delivery must be on our Priority service, and there must be someone in to sign, or authorization to leave the item/s in a dry, secure location, or with a neighbor.
Sending Gifts:If you are sending items as gifts, we will pack them the best way possible, using recycled packaging. See our packing information here. You may prefer for them to arrive with a bit more panache; if so, please choose a presentation box or hamper to present them in; see here. All our giftbox and hamper presentations are delivered in handsome giftboxes or wicker, as detailed in the product information and product images.
Would you like a personal message enclosed? Just tell us when you are placing your order, and we would be delighted to enclose it with your goods, or choose a gift card here.
IMPORTANT: Do please check that the recipient will be in to receive the delivery, or ask if they can suggest a safe place, sheltered and dry to leave the parcel. See here for key information regarding delivery.

We will include this contact phone number with the delivery information, unless you advise us not to.
Rural Addresses: Please use a house number and name; just a house name is not sufficient. If a house does not have a number then please give some additional information to help the courier to identify the property: e.g. "the house is next to the Mazda Garage" or "there is a large white cartwheel by the gate."
Details of how to find a house:
Please give brief details of how to find the house. There is no need to describe how to get to your town or village, just simple directions from the nearest landmark will be sufficient.
Safe place to leave a parcel:
If you have a safe place for the parcel to be left, should you have to 'pop out', or wont be in, please provide us with this information when ordering. This is, however, done at your risk since you know the property and the security of the area. Please ensure that the safe place is dry, secure and out of the sun.
If your order is urgent, our delivery service allows, at additional cost, next day delivery before 12 Noon. Furthermore, its always a good idea to call, or send an email, as its not unheard of for line faults, server outages and other technical issues which can delay the progress of your order!

Multiple Deliveries to one address:
We are often asked to deliver several orders to one address. This happens when a group of friends or office colleagues get together to place a number of orders which are then sent to their work address. If the order can be packaged in one box the delivery charge payable is likely to remain at £8.99 for mainland delivery for all orders up to 25kg in weight.
When you place your order, you will have an option to print a receipt. Please print a copy at this point and save it. We only take payment when starting to pack your goods, and will enclose your till and credit card receipts in the documents envelope on your parcel.
