Somerset Cider Brandy is blended for age and quality, this is a beautifully balanced spirit. To make their lip-smacking spirit, the Somerset Cider Brandy Co. distil cider in a Coffey still, similar to how Calvados is made. This particular batch, however, has a bit more of a story to it, as the 10 year old brandy was finished in Allier oak barrels from the same cooperage as the ones that luckily survived the beaching of MSC Napoli in 2007, hence the name Shipwreck. Blended for age and quality, the Somerset Cider Brandy have drawn upon over thirty years of experience to make XO a beautifully balanced spirit. Aged in small oak barrels and each bottle can be traced back to its source orchard. This brandy cider starts with a fruity, appley nose which leads into an elegant aromatic palate with notes of vanilla, followed by a long spicy, oak finish. For over thirty years Julian Temperley and The Somerset Cider Brandy Company have been reviving the ancient art of Cider Brandy production in the UK. Somerset Cider Brandy is currently the only English Spirit to be protected by a PGI. XO has been aged in small oak barrels and each bottle can be traced back to its source orchard.
