Located in Barossa, Bethany?s vineyards are facing west and benefit from cooling gully breezes during spring and summer. This extends the ripening season allowing the grapes to achieve the perfect levels of sugar and acid. Bethany Wine's vineyards were first planted in 1852, but it was only in 1981 when members of the fifth-generation established Bethany Wines. This old vine Grenache is sourced from low yielding bush vines ranging in age from 50 to 120 years old. There are fresh plum, blueberry and cherry notes that complement hints of spice, This is a medium body wine which has smooth and supple fine grain tannins The ?First Village? label tells the story of the village?s establishment in the German folkloric paper-cutting art ?Scherenschnitte?. Bright aromas of red cherry fruits with earthy notes. Full-bodied and dense on the palate with lovely, chewy fruit and finely grained tannins leading to a long and complex finish. This goes well with lamb roast and it is also a perfect partner for a tapas platter or antipasto.
