Skipper Rum is a small, independently-owned brand with roots going back to 1930. This proud Demerara Rum is sourced from the famous Diamond Distillery in Guyana. Demerara Rums are considered by many to be the kings of dark rums.

Originating along the Demerara River in Guyana, they are one of the few rums with Geographic Indication status recognized by the EU. This ensures the rum is produced from local molasses using traditional methods of distilling and aging dating back 300 years. The iconic cheery image of a Skipper on the bottle is a nod to the British Merchant Navy, not the Royal Navy as commonly assumed.

Many Merchant Skippers began their careers in the Royal Navy before captaining commercial ships when Britain dominated the seas. Tasting Notes On the nose, Skipper Rum offers intense aromas of molasses, vanilla, and oak. You can detect the rums time spent maturing in whisky casks, with notes of charred wood, spice, and dried fruit.

When sipped, the first impression is the rich, viscous mouthfeel. Then the robust flavours take over, burnt sugar, treacle, raisins, and buttery toffee with hints of coffee and bittersweet chocolate linger on the palate.
