This is an Award winning core single malt expression from Lochlea. Our Barley sits alongside the seasonal limited-edition whiskies. It is made from and inspired by the local barley grown on Lochlea Farm, that is matured in first-fill Bourbon barrels, Oloroso Sherry casks and STR barriques. (What is STR? Its the process of reusing red wine casks that have undergone a rejuvenation process, involving Shaving the inner wood, Toasting the surface, and Re-charring the interior)

 This rejuvenation process, pioneered by Dr. Jim Swan, allows for the benefits of both virgin oak and red wine maturation to be imparted to the spirit being aged)

Our Barley has aromas of pears in syrup, fruit bon-bons, freshly-cut grass and marmalade fill the nose, complemented by notes of golden syrup, black pepper, rye bread, macadamia nuts, orange, cream soda and beeswax throughout the palate.
