Made using a traditional recipe, Rutland Red is buttered, cloth-bound and matured for six months to produce a flaky, open texture cheese.
A Gold Medal winner at the World Cheese awards, Rutland Red Leicester has a gorgeous, rich orange colour and full, nutty flavour with an underlying sweetness. It has a smooth, creamy texture and is beautifully matured, and is an essential on your cheeseboard.
It is the only pasteurised Red Leicester produced in the county of Leicestershire and is a firm favourite at here at The Cheese and Wine Shop. Its also great, as one of the layers, when creating a celebration Cheesecake, with its bright, rich burnt orange colour.
Leftovers? Rutland Red is ideal for grating over dishes or melting into sauces, adding a rich, distinctive taste to any recipe.
