LANGLOIS CHATEAU SAUMUR CREMANT DE LOIRE 75CL 12%
LANGLOIS CHATEAU SAUMUR CREMANT DE LOIRE 75CL 12%
Crémant de Loire is made using the same traditional method as the finest French sparkling wines and comes with its own prestigious history.
Langlois-Chateau is the perfect example: they have been producing high quality fizz for more than 130 years and what’s more, they have been owned by the Bollinger family since the 1970s – a sure sign of excellence. This Classique Brut is dominated by Chenin Blanc, the region’s favourite white grape. It’s aged for a minimum of 24 months, creating delicious, complex flavour. It’s rich yet refined with aromas of quince, peach and grapefruit, which lead to a long, fresh finish.
Background: Langlois Chateau Cremant de Loire is produced according to the traditional method, with long ripening on lees, just like champagne. Chateau-Langlois is owned by the Bollinger Champagne House, a name synonymous with prestige and quality.
The grapes used to make Crémant de Loire brut come from 6 quality terroirs: Côtes de Saumur, Coteaux de St Léger, Puy Notre Dame, Bas Layon, Haut Layon and Montreuil Bellay all of which have predominantly chalky soils. The grapes are entirely hand-picked in small 25kg crates and a pneumatic press is used immediately after gathering (160kg of grapes gives 100l of juice) .
During vinification grape varieties and terroir are seperated in thermoregulated stainless steel tanks and it is the taste of the clear, unblended wines which
determines the final mix (the best vintages using around 10% of reserve wines).
The second fermentation is drawn in the bottle and the wine is matured on the
lees for a minimum of 24 months in the wineries freestone cellars.
