From Rachel Stephens of Stockbeare Farm in North Devon, this is a full fat hard cheese based on a traditional 17th Century recipe. Its around 3 months, and is light and buttery, with full flavour. Devon Oke is the same cheese, unwaxed but matured for longer, whilst Belstone is their vegetarian version, and is available in a 1.2+kg or 2.4+kg format.
More about Curwurthy... Rachel Stephens started working at Curworthy Cheese, on Curworthy Farm near Okehampton in Devon. At this point in the distant past, the farm belonged to 'Farmers Weekly' newspaper.
When the paper decided to sell the cheese business Rachel bought it and moved it to the family farm just a few miles away to purpose built creamery, converted from a cowshed.
They use the same basic recipe for their complete range of cheeses. The difference in the flavour and texture is due to the
