SOMERSET CIDER BRANDY

Think Cider, think West Country then you`re not far off from thinking Somerset Cider Brandy. The first written records of Cider Brandy in Somerset go back to 1678.

Recently, however, there has been a revival of interest, led principally by the Somerset Cider Brandy Company, which in 1989 was granted by HM Customs the first full cider distilling licence in recorded history.

Somerset Cider Brandy evokes all the magic and mystery of the West Country's proud cider making and apple growing tradition. The art of blending different types of fruit is key to the craft of cider making and distilling. At Burrow Hill, this is the responsibility of Tim Stoddart and Julian Temperley who between them have over 50 years experience of making cider.

For many, the "Cider Bus", synonymous with the infamous Glastonberry festival, is a popular introduction to the joys of Somerset Cider and Brandy, where many of Julians Ciders and Brandies are dispensed!

Not to be missed are Somerset Cider Brandys Martock Cherries in Eau-Di-Vie, a gastronomic delight, and the "Hix Fix", both available here at The Cheese and Wine Shop.
