Viticulture ... Stretching over the horizon the Hawke’s Bay’s long, balmy days bathe the region in soft gold light. Terrific dry autumn days lasted and lasted well into April making 2010 a great harvest. Vintages like this made the Bay’s reputation as a classic kiwi wine region and this year was the perfect debut for our first Hawke’s Bay Sauvignon Blanc in several years. We gathered ripe, healthy fruit and made some of our most flavoursome whites in twenty years. Our Kereru Road vineyard was this wine’s main source of fruit. Estate owned and running down to the banks of the Ngaruroro river this site is in the cool, inland Mangatahi district. Well drained soils and cool nights make this area perfect for growing intense, flavoursome grapes.
