About Maille ...
Maille has a rich history, and was lauded as the greatest mustard and vinegar-maker of all time, becaming Vinegar-maker and distiller to their Imperial Majesties of Austria and Hungary in 1760, then to the King of France in 1769, before becoming the official supplier to Catherine II of Russia in 1771.
Antoine Maille became ill and retired in 1800 selling his company to André Arnoult Acloque. Maille died in 1804. When he came of age in 1828, his son took over the business. Eager to continue the reputation that his father had built up, he ran the company and like his father, Maille continued to listen closely to his consumers and to supply the famous people of the time.
In 1952, Maille joined forces with the Dijon mustard-maker Grey-Poupon, a company founded in 1777. From then on their names became synonymous with mustard making.
