Charles Martell has been making his famous Cheeses in Hunts Court, Gloucester for over 40 Years. The first cheese he made was a Double Gloucester,  hand-milking his three Old Gloucester cows!  from their milk. This momentous event was documented on a BBC Television programme called a Taste of Britain which went out in 1973. 


Responsible for rediscovering "The lost" Single Gloucester, Which Charles revived on the farm in 1978. Stinking Bishop was developed and launched in 1994. It became famous outside the cheese world when it had a starring role in the film, Wallace and Grommit.  

Today, Charles Martell produce a number of distinctive  cheeses, including a sheep's milk cheese, and you can buy Charles Martell Single and Double Gloucster, along with the famous Stinking Bishop here at the Cheese and Wine Shop.
